My photos didn’t transfer to my new phone

Hi, I upgraded from iPhone 12 to 14 yesterday and swapped the sim but when it finished updating everything my extensive photos collection going back years has not transferred at all.

I did a successful back up the night before to the cloud prior to this, although had to spend 2 hours deleting stuff to get back under the 200 GB limit for it to work, which it did.

any clues what to do?

@RichLaws Do you pay for extra iCloud storage? If you do then don’t worry as the photos are on your iCloud Photos library as they don’t get backed up when you do a backup of the device they are done separately. If you don’t pay extra for iCloud storage then it’ll never backup that amount of photos as you only get 5Gb as standard.
