O2 are offering this on a 36 month contract for the device and the tariff is 24 months and Voda are offering the same sort of deal over 36 months. EEs offer is all 24 months.

EE are still overpriced, your competitor 02 for a start offers the iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB on a 24 month contract with unlimited data, texts and calls for £104 a month with only a £30 up front fee. EE is just overcharging, simple as that.

And if you happened to give 02 a £330 upfront fee the same unlimited everything plan drops to £92 a month.

EE’s pricing does seem out there for this launch. Sure the devices are more expensive direct with Apple but some of the upfront costs are crazy.

I rang EE to upgrade to the watch ultra but decided against it when they wanted £190 upfront and £36 a month. Instead I went to Vodafone who wanted £27 a month and nothing upfront. Sure the Vodafone deal is over 3 years but it still works out cheaper than EE’s does over 2 years by some £80 or over £150 when you factor in the airtime with EE for the 3rd year

Even more bizarrely the 45mm stainless steel is the same monthly cost as the ultra with EE but £90 less up front. The price difference with Apple is £20

The upfront cost does seem a little OTT sometimes as it doesn't appear to factor in that not all handsets have the same resale value.

I'm trading in a Samsung S22 Ultra 512gb and paying £300 upfront but I fail to see how they have lost enough money on the deal to justify taking a handset plus cash their way for a handset you can still sell on the used market for over £800?! A little nuance to the deal such as waiving the £300 or at least part of it due to the value of the returned handset would be warmly welcomed.

EE can also scoop up those customers who are happy to buy a preowned handset along with a new tariff which inevitably lasts a further 24 months.

All being said, this is all clearly stated in EE's Ts & Cs so not much room to complain tbh.

Me too, l feel your pain. However the main reason for this is because you wish to upgrade to a 1tb iPhone which happens to be unusually expensive coz of that gigantic storage tank. I suggest you opt for the 512g which will only cost you £50 upfront fee if you can do without 1tb storage capacity.

I have gone with Apple for my phone this year as I pay we £120 a month for my iPhone 12 Pro max alone. I traded in an iPhone 11 towards an iPhone 14 pro max 256 and will be paying £46 a month for the phone . Just got to get a sim deal now from ee. A lot cheaper for me .

Vodafone you choose the length of your contract and they are offering the 1tb 14 pro max for as little as £49 upfront and £113 per month over 24 months.

O2 are also offering the same phone on a completely unlimited package for £107 a month for £30 upfront, also over 24 months

Its really impossible to defend EEs pricing in the face of deals that are out there.

It really depends on how you value EE. Some say overpriced, some say it's worth it for the network. I'm in the latter group. Same way about Apple products which are (generally) significantly costlier than alternatives. When the moderator approves the image below, take a look at the signal strength of O2 versus EE. When I ran Speedtest, the network performance on EE was at least three to four times faster than O2.

With O2 you can pay an even higher upfront cost and pay even less on the monthly cost. O2 flexibility is excellent, as is the website and ordering facilities, but I dislike the network and support.

I am troubled by EE’s extortion for the fee of the 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max. It is unacceptable to charge customers that price when different networks offer it for a significantly lower payment. The handset cost maybe £1700+. However, if other networks - Vodafone, and O2 charge the same monthly fee (£109) and only charge the customer £49/£30 respectively for the handset then this is outrageously greedy behaviour by EE. As for their coverage and service, well that is subjective. Their service is not worth £300 more for the exact phone in my opinion.

I have two contracts coming to an end in mid-November and I will not be renewing, and I will move to Vodafone because I refuse to pay the extortionate price EE want. So much for 17 years of custom and loyality.
