Hi All

I have a pay monthly £10 sim only EE 12 month contract which I use with my IPhone XS and it only started in May. I want to buy a cellular Apple watch from Apple direct as they don’t have the style I want with EE. Can I then pair it to my phone with my same phone number and if so what Sim do I need? Thanks in advance 😊

@Tracey225 Yes you can get the watch from Apple. When you set this up on your iPhone your given the option to take out a 30 day rolling contract for the watch this is £7 per month and you get 10Gb of data just for the watch. This will be linked at account level so when your phone rings your watch will ring ( the watch has its own number for billing purposes and data usage) even if your phone isn’t with you.

the watch once activated and you’ve setup a tariff for it will activate the eSim in the watch (electronic Sim)

10GB sounds very little if one were to stream music and other social media. Are the charges high if exceed 10GB on the watch? 😞

Hi @Peahead8.

It's unlikely that you would, but if you were to run out of data you would buy a data bundle and control how much you spend. There would not be any unexpected charges.

Just don’t try to switch everything to EE and add an existing Apple Watch at the same time - I joined at the beginning of February and am having to wait 6 weeks to get my Apple Watch and one for my Mum transferred to EE.

I own the watches, it’s just a monthly renewal e-sim package I need not new tech but, no, I am ‘not eligible’ to add the Watches - which is why I joined EE in the first place - and was sold on the family watch capability. EE is a lot LOT more expensive than my previous sim-only phone contracts.

Meanwhile, my 80 year old mum is limiting her daily walks in case she falls and we don’t get alerted. I’m avoiding riding my horse in case I have a fall and no-one knows I’m on the ground. It’s so annoying I have to keep checking only to get the same message of not being eligible. My credit score is exemplary, I just want to give EE more money in return for no physical tech, so I don’t understand why I can’t add my watches. Barking mad - EE’s loss!

Thank you for sharing your unpleasant experience. I think you might want to
consider bringing this up with BBC Inbox where they will contact EE
directly and hopefully have a position result! Good luck!
p.s. I have not bought an Apple Watch yet.
--
Patricia
