3G phones always did fallback to 2G whenever 3G wasn't available - this has always been intentional. It's just that 3G not being available is now a permanent state of affairs rather than varying as it was previously.

A 4G phone will give a better experience than 2G for voice calls, it gives access to additional coverage and audio quality is also improved. But 2G is still fully supported.

Hi All,

I have the above phone and I am having connection problems as EE has now discontinued the 3G signal. I am wondering if this is my problem or if the phone does not support 4 and 5 G. Any help would be greatly welcome.

Kind regards

Hello @bossydwarf ,

Welcome to the community,

I have just done a search and it only supports 3G, so will revert to 2G, nothing you can do about it, but will work for calls and text, not sure but I suspect for emails, sorry, you would have to upgrade to a new or refurbished phone which accepts 4+5G, if you want it to do more, most networks have now switched off 3G, as now we have 4 and 5G, which is much better.

It should work over 2G for calls & texts fairly normally but for anything other than trivial data it will be slow.
