My previous mobile phone screen broke and i was unable to get my contacts or photos off it. Would these be automatically stored on a cloud somewhere so that i can get them

Which device did you have? Android phones will (Usually) backup to the Google account in the cloud as long as auto backup was setup and turned on, you can then redownload these when you sign in to your new phone. Samsung also have their own backup system. I believe Apple are the same.

If you were android, try signing into Google on a PC and seeing if your contacts are stored there. Photos should also have their own section.

Hello @Slegmond and welcome to the community!

If you have cloud storage and backed your phone up regularly for example your iPhone will backup every night to the cloud if your phone is connected to power and the WiFi, if not you’ll manually have to back it up…

if you never backed your phone up then you could be unable to restore the data into a new model of phone unfortunately.

its not a straightforward question because it depends if you backed it up or not.

If you can connect the phone to a PC by USB you'll find your pix in the DCIM folder.
