Galaxy A05s set up in progress?

This settings symbol won’t go away.

the phone/system is asking for a verification code on my old phone that has completely packed up, hence a new phone today.

Just need to get rid of this symbol please.

The settings symbol would be by the EE symbol, before clicking on it.

Is this when it's trying to send a PIN to your old phone?

Yes, it’s sending a pin to a previous number, then to my last galaxy A40 phone in which has completely packed up.

When during setup is it that this popped up?

From what I can see in the screenshot, am I right in thinking this is when you're trying to log in with your Samsung account?

This sounds like Samsung authenticating your validity to access your Samsung account which manages encryption for any backups.

If you're not able to access your other devices to verify your ID, you can find single-use authentication codes in your online Samsung account.

They're not easy to find, and I can't recall where they are off-hand. But it's Samsung's "check of last resort".

It won’t let me into my account due to verification code.

i don’t know if to do a factory reset or go back to the shop tbh

@Goamike Like @bristolian mentioned with this one, this is your account with Samsung that handles some personal details and backups, but it's not always essential to be signed into this for the phone to work.

We're limited in the support we can provide for this at our end though, as all of this is managed through Samsung directly.

You can find all the details you need on how to reach out to them for support with this on their help pages.

Just to let you know I made the mistake of doing a factory reset and ended up taking it back to the shop today, it took the guy who sold me the phone around 2 minutes to sort it out.

A happy bunny now.

Good news, but.... for the benefit of other users who may come on this forum seeking help with a similar issue.... what was the fix?

It may help another user avoid having to visit a retail shop and resolve it themselves.
