Xperia 1 VI EE Contracts?

Does anyone know if EE are getting the new Sony Xperia 1 VI on contract?

I stupidly believed the person on the phone in January when I signed up for a sim only deal that I'd be able to upgrade to this phone or cancel my contract if EE didn't have it. and now they won't budge on the cancelling contract without charging me the FULL price of the rest of the sim only contract.

So...does anyone know if EE will be getting the phone.

If you're a new SIM-only customer, you have an initial 6month lockout before you can upgrade to a phone-plan.

You also have the option of purchasing your chosen phone outright anytime, and remaining on your SIM-only plan.

EE AFAIK have made available all the Xperia 1 series handsets on contract from launch date.

Ominously the Xperia 1 vi website doesn't mention EE on tne pre order option. So sadly this maybe an O2 exclusive.

EE may have dropped Sony for a number of reasons such as low demand, poor perceived value, difficulties in obtaining satisfactory servicing and perhaps reunaway demand for its nearest Android rival the Samsung S24 Ultra. When picking a handset for their contact customers, EE have to be as near certain as possible it will be a success with low returns, high spend per handset and something that presents a real alternative to the Samsung/ Apple near monopoly .Maybe on this occasion they might have decided not to proceed with the VI.

It might also be down to the backers of O2 dangled a huge order in front of Sony in return for an exclusive.

Whatever the case I think the decision for EE to pass on tbe Sony Xperia 1vi has been taken and a reversal is very unlikely.

I have the Sony 1 V and although tempted by the S24 ultra and included tablet S6 Lite I held thinking EE would stock the VI.

But it seems a no so far...

Is there any point of doing this? Would rather you just told us that you aren't. Some of us don't want a Samsung or Apple.

Okay I have done a bit of digging as I wasn't happy about my situation of being lied to being able to cancel contract IF EE didn't get the phone.

So according to the Xperia Rewards website, where you would go to claim the headphone offer, is that EE will be getting the pre orders on the 30th May. So you will have from the 30th May - 5th June to pre order from EE for the headphones.

It sounds like o2 had 2 week exclusivity window OR EE just didn't put it up till the 30th.

That website shows the dates that each place will be getting it.

This post has been very handy, as I’ve just been looking at the Vi as an alternative to the S24 Uktra, so thank you. Out of curiosity, why is it that you are averse to Samsung?

I'm not against Samsung and certainly not the Apple MacBook. I like the mobile phones Samsung produce.... BUT I am against the bloatware, the stabs at Apple that they take... When they do exactly what Apple has done.

They have taken SD card support and even the headphones jack. Not that I use the jack as I have the Sony wireless Earphones.... But you know what I mean....

I also prefer these wayyyyy more than I do the Galaxy buds. The Sony Audio experience is another level.

It's also nice to have something different with accessories that are superior to Samsung.

Samsung phones are full of bloatware and the camera pictures are overly colourful and not realistic enough for my liking.

I've just searched for it myself and nothing is showing up. I'm out of contract now so I'm paying stupid money waiting for this phone to come out. Glad I didn't go for SIM only or I'd be in the same position as you.

But as yourself no news on if or when it's coming to EE.

As I mentioned previously, EE look to be getting it on the 30th May, which is tomorrow.

Well, it looks like I've been proved wrong.

EE have in fact taken on the Xperia 1vi on pre order as from today 30th May 2024.

Cause I can see plenty of plans available. And i actually pre ordered one earlier on.
