number of rings before going to voice mail?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A32 and I am with EE. This is driving me mad, but whenever I get an incoming call it only rings for a few short seconds and I can never get to it in time. Even if it is in my hand I still don't have enough time to answer it.

What I very much need is to increase the number of rings or call duration to about 30 seconds before it goes into voice mail. I have seen many suggestions but none of then work. I'm thinking this is phone model related.

I should point out I am very advanced on years and speed is no longer in my action plan.

THank you

Hi @catstycam

Welcome to the community.

The network standard is 20 seconds ringing time. Some devices allow you to change it to 30 seconds by typing a code into the keypad, but others don't. It sounds like you're already tried that.

You have the option of removing the voicemail feature completely so that the phone keeps ringing. To do that, text VM OFF to 150.

Hi Chris, thank you for the response.
I think the ringing time is a lot less than 20 sconds, it is quite
possible that I made it worse instead if better!

I can see turning off VM would serve the immediate purpose but to be
honest I am reluctant to turn it it off.

But thank you for the suggestion.

Michael

Ok, thanks @catstycam

Try typing this directly into your phone's keypad (you may need to hit the call button too):

**61*07953222222**20#

If that works, it should change it to 20 seconds.

I thought that was going to be successful, as it said MMI successful.

But no. When I dialled an incoming call to the phone it didn't delay it
at all. In fact, I am worse off now as it went straight to VM!.

Now I need to nullify that command somehow so it goes back to where it
was. I will try an off /on to see what happens.

Yes it rings for 20 seconds. That's a shame. It looks like from the
comments I'm not the only one, so I would suggest EE reviews its default.

Thank you for getting back to me.

I have an iPhone 13 mini and have the same problem. I need my phone to ring longer before it goes to voicemail as it is costing me to return calls I cannot pick up in time. Please will EE change its default to give consumers the option to choose how many rings would be their preference rather than having the decision of 20 seconds only forced on them.

The only solution I found was to turn off voicemail. Trust me, it's one less thing controlling your life. My phone now rings for ages if it's important and I don't have to waste moments of my life listening to unimportant messages.

This is my problem as well. Both myself and my husband only get 3 rings - too short to even measure seconds. This means practically all incoming calls have to be phoned up to find out who rang and why. This happens on our new digital landline.

I visited the EE store this morning and I am told that this is universal affecting all companies and phone types. If this is the case then it is a very backwood step in the industry. Not all customers are quick enough to note that the phone is ringing, or fit enough to get to it in time. Why isn't there a reliable code for adjusting the time before voice mail cuts in as there used to be??? Surely this is a very small program issue?

Turning off VM is not a sensible alternative considering the cost we pay these days for "superior" tech!
