I wonder if anyone can advise . I have had my phone a week tomorrow from my local EE shop. The phone the s23 is great but is not as good at staying connected to WiFi as my older one the a51. All the other phones laptops and tablets in the house have no problem. I have serious medical problems which mean I liase with the hospital several times a day re medicine doses. This drop in service has meant 2 emergency hospital tips this last week. I have no choice but to go and cancel this contract with them tomorrow as once it is past a week cos it was in store they won't do anything . The phone is generally slow anyway to be honest no matter whose wi fi it is connected to or wven on 4 or 5g. I am really gutted as they gave me an s22 a month ago which they took back as there were no notifications on there for emails which is vital for me. I have a long term serious life threatening medical.issue which every flare up I have could be my last . I just dread having to go back to the shop tomorrow to argue and cancel the contract. Just needed to vent.

You do not show any mobile network problem, only WiFi which could be down to your router.

The router has been checked and if I put the sim in the old phone the A51 it works fine both on wi fi ond mobile data. However the new phone is awfully slow on any WiFi I try it on . I will buy out the whole 2 years if I have to and throw the phone . But I will take this all the way its made me so stressed

So I took out a new contract less than a week ago . The phone the s23 is not doing as expected and is very slow and faulty. Will not dtay connected to any wifi running below 500 mg. As I signed in shop they may not . I was on sim only of £20. My new contract price is £44 if I go back to the rolling sim only contract I was.on what would I have to pay up front . Hope this makes sense .

hi guys:

for phone owners experiencing "slow phones" like 1609steph, here is my optimization guide based on real runtime testing. i am an engineer (super geek by nature) who regularly fixes and optimizes phones and computers for friends and family.

⭐optimization guide ⭐

1. turn off phone > remove SIM from sim tray, clean with a cotton bud and a drop of alcohol-based cleaner, re-insert SIM.

before doing any steps below, please ensure you have a good signal (3 bars or more) on your phone. if your phone is stationary (attached to a laptop or PC), you can simply place phone in an aluminium foil dish (acts as a parabolic, radio receiver dish) since your mobile phone is basically a radio hand-set/router device.

there are many guides on youtube that demo how to to do this. here is the best one, posted by matthais wandel (who measures network speed before and after reflector installation) 1.3 million views : 7.9K likes 💖

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZKc3PBs67c

matthias clearly shows "ping time" (network speed) before and after reflector installation. before he gets "request time-out" and ping times of (up to) 621ms. after he gets consistent network speeds between 10-20ms 👍

top tip:

on a good network (like EE) you are looking for ping times below 100ms

how to run ping (from any laptop or PC with a mobile phone or other router connected)

in (any) windows version press "run", in "run" box type cmd (to open a command window)

at command prompt > type ping www.google.com -t

ping will output ping times *in real time* until you exit the cmd window. if you are getting ping times below 100ms, you have a strong network signal.

2. update your android system to the latest version (EE recommend this if you are having "signal issues")

about > system updates > OK (let system update fully download and reboot before doing anything else)

2. install a free app called SD maid > scan > delete temporary caches

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm&hl=en&gl=US

SD maid receives 4.4 star rating on google playstore

top tip:

SD maid does not load any annoying ads when you use the free version. other "cache cleaners" i've tested do.

if you want to run a network speed test from your browser (on your phone or computer)...

out of the seven "net speed apps" i tested, these have clearest result pages (and most fun graphics).

https://www.speedtest.net/

https://speedof.me/

https://speedsmart.net/

kind regards, OldSchoolTech
