Unlocking huawei p30 pro

I’m trying to unlock my sons phone. It used to be his mums on contract but the contract has ended. I’ve tried to unlock it on the ee website but it says something has gone wrong and to try again. It’s been doing that for over a month now, his mum called ee and they couldn’t understand why it wouldn’t unlock. Any ideas what could be the problem or what to try next?

Where was the phone originally purchased?

Have you tried another network SIM card to see if this works?

It was on contract from ee. Yes I’ve tried a different sim in it but it doesn’t work.
