We've had a similar thread about this in the past, and normally it's not possible to swap recordings from one box to another.

Why is it you're planning on changing boxes?

I am leaving BT, and going to Vodafone, so have to send it back, have
bought a new recorder.

When did you get the box?

If it was before 13/12/2019 then it's yours to keep.

As to copying off programmes the yes it is possible for SD recordings only but it means mounting the HDD in a Unix/Ubuntu environment copying the relevant files , renaming them to a readable format & then converting them to MP4/MKV format and then playing them via a media server.

@Bouncer52 As others have suggested officially the answer is no, EE do not make this possible nor have ever supported it.
