Viewing UHD on EE TV through Apple TV 4k

I am considering EE TV with an Apple TV 4K and wondered whether BBC UHD programmes were available with the EE TV app through the ATV or would I have to go via the iplayer app on ATV?

The iPlayer app on Apple TV 4K does not support UHD, in fact, it tops out at 720p HD, although the upscaling is very good.

You would need to use another device if you want BBC content in UHD.

It depends on your usage.

The EE TV app features a much clearer TV Guide (in my view) and the channel streams are more comprehensive due to the exclusive deal EE have, but whether or not that is important to you is personal choice.

I for example would prefer the EE TV app if the Apple TV 4K was my daily driver connected to my main TV, it is less of a consideration in a different room with limited use I think.

There is also a lot of noise about a new Apple TV 4K coming in the next few months, so I would be more inclined to wait to see if that is available via EE before making a decision.

Any idea why ATV doesn’t have iplayer with uhd? Contract with BBC?

Does EE TV app include a better HD iplayer?

Long standing issue with the Apple TV 4K not supporting MPEG-DASH.
