EE TV box pro and hdmi input splitter.

Hi, my TV only has one high resolution (3840,2160p) hdmi port, so I used a hdmi input splitter to connect different devices, games, TV box etc.

This worked fine with old BT TV box, but my new EE TV Pro box won't work?

Do I need to update my hdmi input splitter or does EE box have be direct connection?

My Pro box is effectively split, along with my other sources, into 1 HDMI socket on my TV. Works fine, tho it was originally from BT.

My advice, look for a new TV.

I don’t, in the sense you mean. Hence “effectively“.

All my sources go into an AV amp, with 1 HDMI cable to the TV’s eARC HDMI input socket. I then choose the source I want from the TV’s hub screen.

I’ve never seen a TV like that. what make and model is it?

Was your old BT TV box 4K?

Is your splitter rated for 4K? Not all of them are. And is it switched, or does it choose which input to propagate dynamically?

Make and model, if known, would be useful.

Can you define “won’t work”? Error message, unresponsive, what?

In the meantime, in Settings/ Picture & Sound on the Box Pro, set HDMI Display to 1080p for the time being, and see if that works,

TV is a hisense, 10 years old and working fine, just it only has 1 high resolution (4k) hdmi port.

We have games consoles attached and 4k firestick, BT TV box.

I had been using a 4 in 1 out 4k hdmi splitter to feed all devices including BT TV box into the one 4k hdmi port. This worked fine

First issue when connecting EETV Pro box was screen kept flickering on and off, impossible to setup. Changed to direct connection bypassing 4k splitter all ok.

Tried plugging EETV Pro box into 4k splitter, screen ok, but no sound.

I live and learn…

Devices, like this splitter, that draw their power from the devices that are plugged in to it, are very convenient, but do place an extra demand on the input devices. The Box Pro is supposed to supply the required 5V, up to 50mA, on pin 18 like all HDMI devices, but…

That it’s manually switched is good, though.

First thing to try, if you haven’t already, is an alternate HDMI cable, ideally one proven working into the splitter from one of the other devices plugged into it. Apparently, not all HDMI cables carry the pin 18 voltage, though I would have thought SagemCom would get this right.

If no go, try a powered switch? There’s a BENFEI on Amazon, which is a bit coy, but it comes with a USB A to USB C cable, which makes me think it’s externally powered, though you apparently don’t get a power supply with it, which is probably why it’s coy 😌
