i have recently noticed that the eetv pro box is making a strange noise. it happens every 5-6 seconds and is almost like the HD spinning for two seconds, then stopping, then repeating ad nauseum.

it seems to function perfectly. is this something i should be concerned about? i have recently shifted all the items in my AV cabinet about and it now sits on its own. it was previously third in a stack of dvd player, pvr (both never used) and had the harmony remote contril hub on top if it. i had never noticed any noise at all from it.

thanks in advance

@bixieupnorth

It might be something but also might not be nothing.

One thing is certain, the hard drive will fail eventually, they always do!

The only maintenance you can really do yourself is a ‘light reset’ which cures many ills if it is a software or firmware problem. If it is hardware starting to fail, you will get a replacement, but it will need to fail.

Typically you will see performance issues first, which luckily isn’t happening yet. Weird sounds can be fixed by turning the TV up apparently… 🔊

thanks, i'll try that light reset and report back.

so they won't replace it until it breaks completely, is that for certain?

Well you can ask, but it is still working so I suspect the best you could hope for is one of their “guides” might turn up to check it out and swap it out.

Don’t ask don’t get.

I had the same issue with my pro box and they replaced it even though it was working but it was certainly on its road out.

Give the customer service team a call and emphasis the noises. Mines was clicking in particular and I knew it was the hard drive and so did they.
