@Midnight_Voice

I tried that. Nothing. I’ve obviously pressed cancel or done something else daft.

Anyhoo. Boiled down to:

1. WebOS splits apps and sources. My previous, otherwise inferior, TV had them all together in 1 row.

2. This is what I see in Home Hub:

3. EETV and Apple TV are correctly named. The Panasonic isn’t.

4. As you'll note, all 3 sources show as HDMI2 - LGs nominated eARC socket.

5. This follows normal AV/hifi practice. Each source connects to the amp and passes 4k/HDR video through it to the TV, leaving the amp free to handle multi channel audio up to Atmos.

6. I *could* connect each source direct to the TV. Presumably that would help the recognition of brand and type of each source, and perhaps editing. The problem there is that the audio being returned to the amp is Dolby Digital, negating the audio capabilities of the Denon. If each source had 2 HDMI outputs, split audio and video, I could use each HDMI socket on the TV, and still pass multi channel audio direct to the amp. But only the Panasonic has 2 outputs.

7. Despite the potential for errors with everything being on HDMI2 as far as the TV is concerned, the LG is nevertheless clever enough to correctly label the EE and Apple boxes, just not the Panasonic.

8. I’ve tried a dozen times to edit inputs, and via several routes - with the same result. “No inputs are available to edit”.

This is essentially what I posted before.

First world problems eh 🤦🏼‍♂️

With HD content, all other things being equal, I’d expect similar PQ on the same shows, tho switching from one to the other on my OLED,I get a slight creamy tint from my Apple puck.

Above HD, the EE Pro 4k box supports high quality audio up to Dolby Atmos, but no HDR on the video side. The little Apple box does Dolby Vision *and* Atmos. Plus, and this is a major plus for me, I can use it to stream my Apple Music subscription in up to Spatial Audio. Old school hifi it might not be, but I like it.

Both connect over Ethernet then to our Fibre 900 so I’ve done as much as I can. Both link to our 7.1 system via high quality HDMI cables.

Suffice it to say I use the little Apple box more than the Pro, especially on Apple’s own content.

HTH.

I suspect newer panels are even better.

@Profile closed

Ha. Our last CRT was a Sony 32”. Award winner in the day, tho PQ crap by today’s standards, and it took 2 of us to lift the b*gger. Cost £1800.

In our little room biggest we can cater for is 55”. Went for an LG 55C3 a yr ago on a JL deal for a £1000. Love the PQ and the style (I have wire OCD so cable management is important to me) but WebOS is clunky IMO, and just after we got it the C4 came out and was regarded as a big improvement tho nearly a grand more.

In tellys, if it’s in the shops, it’s obsolete, and an improved version will be round the corner 🤷🏼

Again, the upscaling is excellent so most people don’t notice.

Agreed that WebOS is awful!

That is another plus for the Apple TV 4K, usability and the lack of adverts are massive bonuses, plus they are so over specced for what they do, the shelf life is very good.
