I have Auto set.

Under Onscreen Volume Display, pick your preference, Show or Hide.

My LG GX powers up and down from the Apple remote, short press on Power top right to turn it on, and long press to turn it off; and the +/- button on the remote controls the TV volume.

I didn’t do a thing to set it up - it set itself up - and I had to go and trawl the Settings menus to see what might control these things, before I could try to answer your query 🔎

That’s what standby is for.
