Yes it does. I have changed my router and all is good on the ee tv app on Apple TV for freebies channels. It’s just the pro box etc that has issues with changing the router.

Hi all

Apologies if this has been asked before

I currently have EE TV on Apple TV 4K and using a Wifi 7 EE Hub Pro router, looking at changing over to a 3rd party router (TP-Link or Asus), does anyone know if EE TV will work fine with a non-EE router like getting all the Freeview channels etc?

Cheers

Yes it will work fine as @Rich19861112 stated, this is because the Apple TV uses unicast rather than what EE Pro/mini boxes, which uses multicast and relies on the EE provided router.

I've got a TP-Link WiFi 6 E router and mines been working fine for the last few weeks, the best decision I made since joining EE.

Very nice. I did look at getting that router but I felt a WiFi 6E router was more than enough for me at this point in time, plus the combined cost of the Archer AXE75 and extender (RE815XE) was similar to that router and coverage was more of a priority for me; I will be getting the extender next month.

Nice, yeah 6E is really all you need only just noticed the BE9300 on Amazon for 250 so I thought it was quite a good deal compared to others, but i'll check out the one you have 🙂

Yeah the BE9300 is a decent price tbh for a WiFi 7 router, I doubt you'd go wrong with that, plus the aesthetics are much better with the built in antennas, something my partner keeps moaning about on my router! 🤣

A third party router if configured for ICMP amount multi cast (most new routers should support this) and a few other things should work. I have a TP link archer router configured after some searching online and although I don't subscribe I can see the test channel 330 fine on my you view box. Won't be supported tho
