How do I turn off audio description, I’ve gone through the settings and turned it off there, but every so often I’ve found it has been re -enabled itself.
Would it be a good idea to do a factory reset and see what happens then.

Good morning @robh661, welcome back to the EE Community.

Thanks for taking the time to flag this too, is it every channel that's affected by this, or just particular channels and apps?

Provided you're happy doing so a factory reset certainly could be worth a try.

Just to add another option for checking/changing Audio Description on the TV Box is the Home button then Settings, under accessibility & Language , select Audio Description.

At the moment it seems to be just BBC1 that gets the audio description automatically switched back on, but obviously once it’s on for one channel, all the channels that carry AD will be enabled.

@robh661

BBC 1 live, or via the BBC iPlayer?

It looks like if you watch an AD version of a BBC programme on the iPlayer, and there isn’t a non-AD version, the AD is embedded and you can’t avoid it.

But I can’t work out whether this toggles the global AD setting on, or it just runs with programme-specific AD.

Here’s a page about it, and it’s about as clear as mud, and it doesn’t have a breakout for YouView:-

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/questions/accessibility/remove-audio-des

I suggest you give it a read, and if you have any further questions you can ask the BBC via the Contact Us on that page. And if you do, please post the clarification in this thread.
