I think there is a bug in the EE Apple TV app. If you are watching live tv and power off the Apple TV via the button on the remote without closing the app, and leave it overnight, you are presented with a black screen and nothing else when turning back on the next day. Thought for a while the Apple TV was knackered then I pressed the tv button and it goes to menu as normal. You need to double tap and kill the EE app before going back in to get it working again.
Is a natural thing when going to bed or something just to power off the step top box and others in the house keep saying it’s broken and playing about with cables.

is this known problem with the app? Only seems to happen if powered off for a long period. Shutting off and back on does rebuffer and carry on. So only notice overnight

Not a known problem - I do exactly the same thing with mine overnight, and it resumes ok the next day.

I'll ask the devs to check the logs for your box.

Hi I have a exactly the same problem. I turn the apple tv off just before midnight. Next day black screen clicking the menu button brings up the main menu and you have to reselect the ee app. After this I've tried switch on the tv at various times during the day and it works as expected. It seems it only goes wrong when it passes midnight or a certain amount of time.

A bug similar to this has been confirmed, however you should only need to wait a few seconds on the black screen - the channel should then resume playing again. Can you please confirm that you've tried waiting a few seconds (up to 20), and it remains black?

I've tried the app two days in a row and the both days the last channel resumes.

But if I turn it off for 30 minutes and try again I'm presented with a black screen waiting does not resume the channel
