How do I connect Sonos home theatre to new EE TV pro box?

Recently dumped sky for EE TV and on the whole I'm happy. TV works well and easy to set up. But... I am only getting stereo sound with the speech level too low compared to other sounds. The Sonos play bar, 2 x Play 1 and subwoofer are on same network and work fine as music player but I cannot see a way to connect this system to the EE TV box to produce 5.1 Dolby surround sound. All the box says connect surround using a an HDMI cable? How? Why?

Surely there is a way to join the EE TV box to the Sonos wirelessly? Would really appreciate help on this.

There's no option to connect a sound system wirelessly.

The normal process for Sonos is that you'd connect it to your TV (using HDMI or optical), and then your TV Box to your TV with HDMI. As long as "HDMI Sound" is set to Surround in the TV Box settings, then it'll pass the surround sound to your TV, which can then pass it to your Sonos.
