Thank you for replying. The contract engineer that put in our fast fibre connected our TV up without us asking. I noted the other day he had wound up our aerial so yes the TV is plugged into the hub.Yellow ethernet lead.

Worried if I plug in aerial to top box that I will mess up our TV?

Just looked and the yellow ethernet used to plug in hub and into top box. Do I leave these in situ and just plug aerial in aerial socket?

Missing channels are all +1 stations , drama , Yesterday and W . You will get less Freeview channels if you connect over the internet than if you connect using an aerial. These are generally the +1 channels. There are also others that are missing but some these can be viewed using the UKTVPlay App

@LynneM12 Not sure what effect plugging in the aerial would do to be honest. I don’t think it should make any difference as to switch from an Internet to aerial connection you need to reset your EE TV box. I’ve just stuck with my TV plugged in to the router and left the aerial unplugged. The general consensus also seems to be that picture quality is better over the internet rather than through an aerial. A lot of the channels you mentioned can be viewed through the UKTVplay App (Dave, Drama, W etc). The other thing I found annoying when using an aerial is that the programme guide starts of with BBC 1, BBC 2 etc all as SD channels and I had to scroll down the guide to find them in HD. With the TV connected to the internet these HD channels are at the top of the guide.

Just had my system set up yesterday (1st July) with the aerial and I agree that the hundred SD channels at the start is annoying. I also noticed that you lose the HD versions of ITV 2, 3 and 4 with the aerial setup. I took it out, reset the box and they reappeared. I find SD channels almost unwatchable so losing a few doesn't particularly worry me and I've just spent 10 minutes hiding all the remaining SD channels that have HD equivalents.

I do miss the "Favourite Channels" tab on the Virgin box, though...

Freeview are limited to the amount of channels that they can show but Freely have a hybrid system which is a shame that EE couldn't offer this kind of setup.

I have my Pro box in IP mode for the HD channels but keep my areial in my TV, incase I want to watch the channels that aren't currently available in IP mode.

Yes. Very strange. Just moved from BT boxes to EE. MAIN BOX ok on channels but can’t adjust sound. MINI BOX. Works ok but missing channels 15,16,19,20. Most annoying.

@Sheelaghg1

Easy one first - the Box Minis only operate in IP Mode, and so only have the restricted range of channels.

Use @Weerab2024‘s suggestion; plug your aerial lead directly into the TV, tune it, and when you want those ‘missing’ channels, watch them direct on the TV. TVs can do that - no pause or rewind, but you can’t have everything 😛

Now the trickier one. What’s the main box - a Box Pro, or an Apple box? As you say ‘OK on channels’, I’m assuming Box Pro.

The idea is that when you first set up your Box Pro, you should first plug it in your TV via HDMI before switching it on. Then, when you first use the remote, it will interrogate the TV through the Box Pro, learn what make and model the TV is, and set the remote to control the TV volume.

But this all goes horribly wrong if it doesn’t recognise your TV. In that case, either settle for using your TV remote to control the volume, or go into Settings/Audio on the Box Pro, and set it to Stereo, not Surround. The Box Pro remote should then be able to control the volume on the Box Pro itself.

Bit of a bummer if you have a 5.1 surround system you were hoping to use - I’d stay on Surround and use the TV remote in that case - but if not, Stereo and use the Box Pro remote should be fine.

What’s the make and model of your TV?

And did you set the Box Pro up according the booklet that came with it, or did you go freelance? 😛

It is VERY annoying I have some Freeview channels for example 61 which have a strong signal internet and TV but won't play just comes up with message to connect to the internet and when I contacted Freeview they said I needed Freeview play to be able to access.

Mystery - is not carried on EETV’s IP Mode, so it’s no good looking for it on the internet; so how are you watching it?

You can get it on a Box Pro in Aerial Mode, but that comes over the airwaves, not the internet.

So what exactly are you doing, on what EETV device, to get this message?

Channel 61 on Freeview isn't a broadcast channel, but is a streamed channel that can be picked up by compatible Freeview receivers including most recent TVs, but not the EE TV Box Pro, which doesn't receive it (or similar channels) in either aerial or internet mode.

A list of channels streamed to compatable Freeview receivers is:

https://www.tvchannellists.com/w/List_of_channels_on_Freeview_stream_(United_Kingdom)
