Hi I have just started EE Tv when using the box I have tried to activate Hbo Max and am directed to a BT website which of course has no record of my account

It's unfortunate that HBO Max use the word "activate" in the app, which actually means log in.

Before you can log in, you need to actually activate your account. Log into https://ee.co.uk/plans-subscriptions/tv and select the button to start activation for TNT Sports.

If your subscription is for Entertainment only, then you need to request an activation link from NOW. You can do that by following the instructions shown here: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/TV/TNT-Sports-or-HBO-Max-read-this-first/td-p/1610026
