"Feedback group" option in software settings

I've just checked in the Software settings for the first time in a while to see if there was an update as I've been having a few issues with the EPG not loading.

I've noticed the option shown in the images but don't have any idea what it's for. As far as I know I'm not participating in any sort of trial. Years ago I did register for trials, under BT, but I haven't been contacted.

Does anyone have any insight?

It's unusual to be added to a group by mistake, but I guess in your case it has happened. There have been occasions where reconditioned boxes are sent out without being removed from a group that the previous owner was in, but I'm guessing that's not the case for you.

You're welcome to remove yourself if you don't want to be in it - I'm not sure what that specific group is currently testing.

I do remember registering for trials years ago, Center something or other, but don't believe I was ever in an active one. My box was brand new as far as I know and I've had it a few years now.

I've changed the group to "none" but it just reverts back to TV-BOX-PRO-NET.

Component software version is currently 4.3.166 (cb2216) and Manufacturer is 0.16.30 if that means anything?

That's slightly behind the current live version. Can you please send me an email at eetvsupport@ee.co.uk with the serial number of your box, and I'll get it removed from the group tomorrow.

Just to close this thread off - the "TV-BOX-PRO-NET" feedback group was part of a Netflix A/B test. Half of customers were put into this group, to see how popular a new Netflix feature is. The test is due to finish in the next few days, after which everyone will receive the update.

It's common to do things like this, however users usually don't know it's happening.
