Please don't start a new thread - we can continue here.

By purchasing a 3rd party wifi extender, we're now unable to confirm where the issue is. We can see that the signal between the TV Box and the wifi extender is perfect, however we cannot measure the signal between the wifi extenders - if that's bad then the signal end to end is still bad. What does the wifi light on the front of the extender show? Red is bad, white should be OK.

I have had EE fibre broadband and EETV since March 2025, and the TV box has worked with no issues until about maybe 6 weeks ago when it started to disconnect randomly from the wifi with error codes YVM102 or YVM104. I would restart the router and the box and then it might work for a couple of days before doing it again. I have also previous tried reconnecting the box to the hub in the settings menu via wifi-WPS. I could also see this was happening whilst watching live TV as the error message would flash up on screen and then awhile later 'broadband connection restored'. It has continued to happen more and more frequently (everyday, more than once a day), and then last night I tried to reconnect it all for over an hour before I gave up. Everything on the TV box home screen is displaying unavailable YVM102 and this is still the case this morning.

I see someone else posted a similar issue a few days ago, and it was suggested that they change the wifi band but I'm not seeing this as a menu option for my hub (Smart Hub 6 Plus).

I would appreciate it if anyone has any other thoughts, or is the box just toast? Hub appears to be fine and other devices are connecting no problem. It's very annoying as it's all worked with no issues for about 14 months.

Thanks.

How far is your TV Box from your router?

It's not possible to change the wifi channel (that other thread was incorrect), so there's nothing you can do to help this other than ensure the wifi signal is as good as it can be, or switch to using wired connection instead.

Unfortunately I can only see how good the signal is when your box is actually connected, however it's currently showing as offline.

Hi Darren - thanks for your reply.

Box is downstairs in living room and router is upstairs in spare bedroom because the fibre here is provided via a cable from the telegraph pole rather than underground. I did initially wonder if it would be OK as the previous BT TV box was connected via wire as the old landline connection was in the living room (so therefore the hub was too) but as I say everything has been fine for over a year. Not sure what has changed, everything is set up as it was.

I wondered about getting a wifi extender / booster / similar, or at least getting a very long ethernet cable to test the theory (not that an ethernet cable draped throughout the house is a solution).

Box is on now if that helps?

I can see your box now, and it's reporting a marginal connection - only just able to connect. Is there anything you can do to better position the router or TV Box? e.g. making sure they're not hidden inside units or behind furniture or ornaments?

Alternatively, give the helpdesk a call and they can discuss options with you - either wifi extenders or power line adapters.

I last rebooted the TV box on Thursday evening (9 July) I think. At the moment everything is working, so I will see how I get on. If it happens again I will reboot the router and if no joy then I will look at a wifi extender.

Unsure if I should restart this thread or create a new one, however...

Problems continue I'm afraid. Rebooting the router and / or box only works for a very short time - it has been losing connection in the time it takes to make dinner, or can't even make it an hour to watch an episode of a programme on one of the players.

I have purchased an installed a wifi extender and everything worked for a couple days and I was optimistic, however no joy. The EE TV Home screen is all unavailable (I have also had a new error YVM502), and at the weekend the home screen just had the outlines of the thumbnails on it and refused to be dismissed by pressing the home button on the remote even tho' I could hear the TV channel in the background. I eventually got rid of it by rebooting both the box and the router, as rebooting the box didn't clear it.

I'm afraid the whole thing is unusable at this point. If you have time I would appreciate any further advice, or information about where to go next.

Thanks.

Hello, the lights on the extender are all white. I tried it in a couple of sockets to see where it seemed OK ie no red light on the wifi signal. I see the TV box is OK at the moment.
