Only you know the content that you watch - if you can cope with losing those channels, then give Internet Mode a go first. If you then find that you don't like it (e.g. need to record more channels, have issues streaming channels, can't live without the other channels) then switch to aerial.

HD or not HD

I have just sacked off Sky after 26 or so years. I thought it was a good idea as they were getting over priced and underused. I had broadband with EE and also my phone so seemed logical to bring the TV over as well to EE.

Everything is ok except why oh why is EE TV in the 20th Century still? Where are all the HD channels? Where are the Freeview channels? Ok so originally I tuned my "new" EE TV to the internet, and noticed there were loads of channels missing. EG Dave HD, TLC HD, etc etc. So I go online and see that in order to have these channels, I would need to have the EE TV tuned to aerial. So I do that and yes the channels appear but only in SD. In order to watch these channels in HD the only way is via their connected Website, defeating the purpose of having the channel in the first place. So why oh why can you not have these channels as HD through the aerial? Am I doing something wrong? Also another reason for having the input via aerial is the ability to record upto 4 programs at once, instead of only 2 via Internet.

Therefore is it better to be through the aerial or internet? 20th century against 21st Century? Thoughts? Or is there a way of actually getting more HD channels from the current 60 I only get through my aerial compared to over 130 on Sky? Let me know please my best route as not best pleased at the moment with EE TV.

They're all commercial decisions @keith47424

Channel owners choose where and how their channels are broadcast. If they're HD on Sky, but SD on Freeview then that was a choice by the channel owner - almost certainly down to cost.

If they're not available in Internet mode then they didn't want to be included in the EE TV channel lineup - again, most likely a commercial decision. All content providers are welcome to offer their channels in EE TV Internet mode, subject to relevant contractual terms.

I sort of get that. Although must admit that I never thought that it would be an issue until it was too late after sacking off Sky. As stated, should you go for aerial or internet on EE TV? Decisions, Decisions.

Yes I get that also. It was just so much easier with Sky because everything was HD and you didn't need to worry. I will give it a go on internet and see how I get on.
