ITV HD regional channel not working.

Hi all,

Just changed over from BT to EE and our new TV boxes are all setup.

Our EE Mini TV box is working just fine with all the HD channels showing the right regions.

Our EE tv box pro is showing the SD channels all right but the ITV HD channel is showing granada news rather than ITV Tyne Tees news.

I've tried rescanning the channels multiple times with both the aerial in and out and connected and disconnected from the Internet, still always showing the wrong region on ITV HD.

Any advice is appreciated!

When your TV Box Pro is in IP mode, it should always show the same TV region as the TV Box Mini. For your postcode only one TV region is available, and that's the one you're shown.

When you connect your TV aerial, it uses the channels available via the signal you're receiving - I can see this is the mode your box is currently in. If other TV regions were found in your aerial signal, there would be an option to select your region from the TV Channels menu found in settings. If you don't see that option, it means you're receiving the only TV region that your aerial can provide.

Hi Darren,

My mini tv box is working fine and when I unplug my aerial from the pro box it doesn't show any tv channels only my subscribed channels.

Any ideas?

After unplugging the TV aerial, you then need to factory reset the TV Box Pro. This will switch it to Internet Mode, meaning you'll see all the same channels as the TV Box Mini.

Please note that in doing this, you'll lose any current recordings, plus you'll drop from being able to record 4 channels simultaneously to 2. You'll also be prevented from fast forwarding through advertisements on ITV channels.

Hi Darren,

How can my TV when using an aerial have the correct itv region and also BBC HD all be correct? Surely this is a EE issue?

If you're using a TV aerial, then yes - the TV Box Pro should show the same region/channels as your TV.

If you check in the 800-900 channel numbers, you may also find other regional variations of channels too, although for your address only one TV region is listed as likely.

The key point though is that when in aerial mode, the box will show the channels it receives via that aerial. There's nothing we could do to change this.

I am having the same issue, my BTTV Pro box is showing me ITV Meridian whereas I am in the Anglia region and I have to switch to SD to watch Anglia. I am using my aerial for signal. Any suggestions please.

ITV isn't fully regionalised on Freeview for the HD channel - some transmitters are forced to share the HD channel with neighbouring regions. Your TV Box is picking up the Anglia region correctly, but the transmitter you're pointed at doesn't support ITV Anglia in HD.

If you want ITV HD to be ITV Anglia, you either need to check for options to point your aerial to a different transmitter, or you can switch to internet mode.

AFAIK, ITV Tyne Tees doesn't broadcast its local programmes in HD, so TV boxes will switch to an ITV region that does (like Granada) when trying to watch local stuff.

I can get ITV Anglia in HD on FreeSat, but not on Freeview. But not worth switching sources when easier to go to SD. Shame really.

Sorry to hijack this, but this is my experience:

My tv signal is aerial fed from Emley Moor through my bt box to the tv. when I am actually watching Good Morning Britains regional news, it's Calendar live, which is the region I want to watch, so why when recording on the b.t box does it record a different region, such as Granada?

That's not possible @WATCHMANAGER - the TV Box can only record the signal it's receiving. It doesn't have other channel variations to even record from.

I don't know whether you're watching catch up in the ITV Player? Or the news changes regions at different times of day? Or something else? It's not possible for a TV Box to have a recording for a channel that it's not receiving via the aerial.

I can confirm that my tv is not connected to the internet. I usually watch the 'recording' of Good Morning Britain where the regional news shows Granada. ( Not my region), but at 6.30 this morning I was actually awake and watched it live and saw that it was showing Calendar, which is the region I want. HOWEVER, I checked the recording for the time I was watching, 6.30am, and can confirm it had recorded Granada, even though I watched Calendar (Yorkshire region) live.

I see your answers to others with similar problems seem to acknowledge there is a problems.

I can only see a TV Box Pro connected to your account, with serial number ending 4102. Is that what you're using?

I can only reemphasise that it's just not possible for the TV Box to record a channel that it isn't receiving. If you're saying that you watched it live and it was the right programme, but that the 'recording' was of a different news channel, then it's not a recording. Maybe you're watching it on catch up in the ITV player?

There have been many different discussions about TV regions, covering different scenarios. None of them apply to the scenario you're describing.

Ignore me. You're right about my BT box, which is in the lounge. Like a numpty, I was actually refering to the box I'm watching which is an old Talktalk box in the bedroom. That may be the difference then. Watching on catchup is not an option as its not connected to the internet. Sorry for wasting your time.
