Hi all.

I'm looking to buy a new tv and I'm faced with a choice of 60hz and 144hz. I don't have a gaming console and will not plug a pc into it. The only fast action I'll be using it for is sport. It will be plugged into my EE tv pro box but I'm not sure if it reaches 144hz. Does anyone know if the now tv app which I could use directly on the tv for sky sports would work?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Chintzo,

Welcome to the EE Community

You would be able to watch the EE TV Box Pro and the Now TV app via a 144hz TV but none of the content is currently broadcast at a 144hz framerate. If you got the 144hz TV and watched either of those on it, it would either be displayed on the framerate its broadcast at i.e. 50hz or 60hz, or your TV will use frame interpolation/motion processing, adding frames to display at 144hz.

So it would work fine, there wont really be any 'native' 144hz content if you are not using it for gaming which is usually the main reason most people would buy one, but the motion processing of extra frames can help with fast sports content.

-Alex
