All sorted thanks. It was the ceramic chicken! Was in front of the router.
Checked download speed before moving it and it was 64Mb, moved chicken and
up to 300Mb. Weird as it has been there a while now. Comment from wife was
that you should make routers more attractive if they need to be unfettered!
Thanks again

Have noticed for the last 2 weeks or so the tv box is lagging whilst watching any channel. Especially noticeable when trying to watch live sports. Not the Internet as could watch ITV 4 via ItvX on TV but when trying to watch on EE box just kept lagging. Have tried the usual suggestions; restart box, router etc but no success. Has there been a software patch which has caused this?

What are you comparing it with, to know that it's lagging? TV channels are always a bit behind live, due to the processing and distribution required.

Sorry should have been more specific. The picture is breaking up/freezing
like the Internet connection is slow but as mentioned don't believe that is
the issue as for example Now app on the TV is fine. It is only when
watching via the EE box that this happens.
Thanks

When you use any of the apps, they use "ABR" to show the video - they adjust the quality up and down, depending on network conditions. They're also able to buffer more video, so can generally maintain a higher quality over time as they're not susceptible to network glitches.

The live channels are delivered via multicast at a fixed quality - if the network bandwidth isn't sufficient, there's no way to lower quality. The video will just glitch instead. That's what you're seeing.

Looking at the stats on your TV Box Pro, it's reporting that it has a "fair to poor" wifi signal. This means the signal isn't strong enough to maintain a good video stream.

Is there a way you could boost the signal between them? Slide the TV Box or hub slightly further out, if they're being hidden behind anything? Failing that, you may need a wifi extender or powerline adapter.

Sorry not resolved after all. Still happening. Internet speed test next to box was download speed of 122mb which surely should be sufficient.

Just did speed test next to router which was 154mb. Thought it was minimum 400mb so something is not right here.

I've just tested the download speed from your hub and it's showing 522 Mbps, so the connection is fine.

Looking at the stats on your TV Box today, it's reporting that the signal strength is the same but that the wifi noise level has decreased quite a lot. So it's better than before, but still borderline strong enough. Is there anything you could do temporarily, just to prove it works with stronger wifi?

Hi,

Not a great deal really. Unfortunately I can't upload the video I have showing the set up I have. The router is in the office which is next to the lounge where the TV Box is. My main question is what has changed recently; has there been patches applied to the box or router as 2 weeks ago everything worked fine. It isn't great if a TV box about 10ft away from the router doesn't work properly anymore. Tonight I will move the router as close as I can but see previous sentence.

Your hub has switched Wifi channels a few times over the last few weeks, suggesting that it's seeing issues with interference. The recommendation is that the TV Box should be within 5m of the hub, but there are other factors involved including line of sight, wall thickness/material, electrical appliances, etc.

If the wifi isn't strong enough then a wifi extender or powerline adapters would be the only realistic options.

Hi again. So Wednesday night moved the router and the box so they were as
close as they could be. 7ft as the crow flies and still weak signal yet a
internet speed test by the box showed a download speed of 400mb+. It's not
as if we are in a victorian house with thick walls. It's a modern house
with thin walls. So in my opinion it's not fit for purpose. BUT the big
question is why has it started happening now? Has there been a software
update which has screwed things up? Looking through this community a lot of
people are experiencing the same with solutions including an engineer
coming and putting a patch on the router. So how do I go about getting an
engineer here (for which I am not going to be paying). Many thanks

There was an update to my pro box.

If the software version is 4.3.46 that has the latest update.

There is no change logs provided frustratingly but all I have noticed is that in ip mode at least on the guide for each channel it tells you how long is left of a show or film or if something has just started or is ending.

However sometimes I notice on ITV4 in the afternoons the stream briefly stutters as if it is out of synch and then comes back.

I am wondering if something has happened in the way the channels are being shown or maybe it's something else.

There haven't been any changes to anything channel or network related for a while. The issue won't be related to the update.

I've just spoken to a colleague for advice, and the best thing would be for you to call the helpdesk. Some basic diagnostics will be done first, before a specialist will then take over and perform deeper analysis on your line. My suspicion is that it'll be just down to wifi noise - which could be caused by any number of things. There's a chance that there's a fault on the network switch though, causing packets to be dropped. It'll need a specialist to check that.

For the stuttering on ITV4, BBC news seems fine for example.

Maybe it's just a blip for me as I have the WiFi 6 pro router with 900mb connection and the pro box is right next to the router.
