TNT sports recordings/schedule

Any known issues with TNT sports channels on the box pro? Had multiple failed recordings since Saturday & when checking live channels the info is often showing the previous program still being on instead of whats actually on meaning recordings are not starting

I'm sorry to hear about your experience when recording programs.

Do you have the same issue when you try to record other stations?

Does it show the previous programme on any other stations too, or is it just TNT Sports channels?

Does the recording match the timeslot that the programme was scheduled for, when it was broadcast/recording was set?

Eurosport used to be absolute nuisances for changing their schedule on-the-fly and thus any recordings of planned programmes would often be useless. Although they're nowhere near as bad, TNT certainly aren't immune from doing the exact same.

Seems to be a bit of an unofficial policy at WBD (parent company of TNT & Eurosport), especially prevalent when the "premium" sports that TNT tended to hold, are quiet - and the Eurosport end of the market is dominating the schedules.

Sorry, I should have chipped in earlier, but it's been a busy day.

This is a known issue that is already being investigated. It's not an issue with the TV Box - the issue is with the data feeding the TV Guide (though we're not yet sure if the issue is at source, or with the handling of the data in between).

The same thing happened to me twice the last week trying to record the Tour De France highlight programme at 8PM on TNT Sports.

The programme is being shown on a different channel each night, which also is not helping as I have to set each day to record separately as the series link didn't work.

Symptom of the same issue - the present/following data (which tells the box when each programme starts/ends) wasn't correct.

Same thing happened again today, Tour De France highlight programme on TNT Sport 3 HD @ 8pm failed to record. It still shows set to record in the epg schedule

@Delboy09 Only observations but last night at least two of the TNT Sports channels had problems with some of their broadcast programmes (apparently not telling the box EPG they were broadcasting) so your recording didn't start. Currently this morning the TNt sports channels broadcasting seem to be consistent with the EPG view of what is playing, Hopefully that will continue to be the case.

Couple of further observations , having not recorded your cycling did it attempt to schedule to record a subsequent later broadcast of the same highlights programme as I believe TNT broadcast it several times and if a programme is deemed to have failed I believe Youview does look to find and schedule the programme again. Also you should be able to watch the programme on demand in discovery +. There is i believe a direct play link in the EPG (stage 16 22nd July 8pm TNT sports 3) to probably an advert free version of those highlights.

@zulu17 Thanks for the reply, I did manage to see the repeat showing later last night. This missed recording was picked up by Youview and did record @ 3am this morning on TNT Sports 1sd.

@garybs29 I'm just off a call with a number of people to discuss this. We've confirmed that the EPG schedule is being published correctly, but the real time present/following data is sometimes not arriving. This tells the TV Box what is on now/next, and also tells it when to start/stop recordings. When it doesn't receive the signal, the box will extend the previous programme for up to 2 hours before giving up, meaning some recordings will fail and some will be unnecessarily extended.

The investigation continues ...

That's a good sign.

discovery+ believe they identified why the present/following data wasn't always being sent to us and pushed a fix yesterday. We'll be monitoring it for a few days more before we declare it fixed, but so far, so good.

Currently 2:05pm (wed 13th) both TNt Sports 1 & 3 are broadcasting programming different to the EPG .

This inability to provide a suitable service has been going on for years. It was the same, for years, when it was BT. The excuses have worn thin. My last failure to get what I wanted- what I had paid for - was a recent NFL game in the wee hours. The first half of the recording was the pregame presentation. I missed the end of the game.
Rather than blame other people EE need to take the lead and sort this out. Rely not on when the pregame starts but when the game itself (+overtime) is likely to finish. Set aside way more time that “advertised ” and if the game finishes within the allotted time fill in with the Highlights programmes.

@Why0why whilst that sounds simple to you, it really isn't. We don't have a way to tag a programme as "may overrun", so we'd need to add padding onto the end of every recording - potentially up to 2 hours. That would reduce the number of programmes you could record significantly, as the tuners would be permanently busy wasting disk space on programmes that haven't overrun. The channel owners could do it, but then they'd lose money by scheduling fewer programmes each day - they'd rather schedule more in, and then cancel them if needed.

The proper solution is to have a way to updating the data in real-time, so that recordings are told exactly when to start and stop. That's what we have now, and it had been working well for a long time - but companies and systems beyond our control were changed without notice. We're working as hard as we can to help them fix their issues, but it's taking them time.

Hi,

We are having this issue with the Dakar Rally. It's now gone 10:30pm and the scheduled recordings are showing 9:00pm Dakar Rally, even though it's been on. Sadly we've missed it as we expected it to record.

It's on different TNT channels with no series link so we are having to set up each program - it's now not recorded the first 2 programmes! When is this timing issue going to be fixed please.

It happened with random MotoGP and World Super Bike races, plus the same issue with some other MotoGP films.

Reference my previous post 19 failures to record in the last 9 days. If your assumption is correct regarding TNT Sports, which I admit it does appear that the problem is with TNT Sports. Why did my box fail to record any of the WSBK broadcasts early hours Friday and Saturday morning 20th-21st Febuary when another EE box at another address recorded the same programs. Surely if its the TNT scheduling then nobody could have recorded it.

Obviously "hopefully this week" six weeks ago didn't happen?
