Thanks, yeah I thought that might be the case. It's just the channels under the EETV app that I wouldn't be able to use, which I assume is mostly the terrestrial channels?

Hi - We're thinking of switching from Sky to EE TV. We've currently got 1.6Gbps EE broadband and a number of mobile lines on our account. Just wondering what others had experienced when doing this? Any caveats?

We currently use Ubiquiti Unifi kit on our network as opposed to the EE router (Gateway, switches, APS)

We have Sky Q with 3 additional boxes in the house (although probably only need 2 additional boxes).

Our Sky package includes Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Netflix and Paramount.

We already have Discovery+ and Apple TV through EE as add on packages from our mobile contracts.

We have a caravan where we'd like to be able to use the service - Can we get a box for there on the same subscription? Or an Apple TV box?

Cheers!

Your Ubiquiti equipment is unlikely to support multicast, so the only EE TV service that would work would be Apple TV. This would prevent you from taking a multi-room solution, as the TV Box Edge requires multicast to support TV channels.

You also wouldn't be able to take any of your TV Boxes to your caravan - your subscription stops working on them as soon as they're connected to a different broadband connection.

What makes you think Unifi wouldn't support Multicast? Can the EETV app be used on an Apple TV device at the caravan?

If you search these forums, you'll find many people asking for help trying to get it working. To my recollection, no-one has succeeded.

The EE TV app on an Apple TV will only work when connected to home broadband. Other apps will work OK.

When your at a caravan you can use all the necessary separate catch up and Now, Netflix, Discovery plus, HBO Max apps (when it comes out) from any compatible device with the same login details that you have registered with your EE account for the relevant apps

Correct - it's the Freeview channels that won't be available via the EE TV app. Some of them are available in their own apps (e.g. iPlayer).
