To answer that question, I think DarrenDev needs to chip in - he has far more inside knowledge than others on here.

As far as I know, based on posts on this forum, EE are subject to the whims of YouView who organise the TV guide.

As for future plans, these rarely tend to be announced in advance, but again, DarrenDev can give a definitive answer here.

About a year ago I was in your situation so perhaps my thoughts may be helpful?

Firstly, the Q box is vastly superior in quality - it was designed when Sky were a high quality tech led company, not the Comcast mess they are today. I decided to leave Sky for 3 reasons - first and foremost was the use of Indian call centres . This made me look at my Signature package to see what programmes I really needed Sky for. The answer was none. Finally was the ever increasing charge - I was paying £31 per month.

About 3 months before my contract ended, I disconnected my box, purchased a BoxPro from eBay and gave myself a trial period to see how I got on. This was without an EE sub, just Freeview. I enjoyed the experience so much that I signed up to EE TV after the 3 months and have never looked back.

Pros for you if you make the move - a UK call centre and a much cheaper contract. Cons - a less slick box. Good luck!

I get all the channels I need because I activated the box as aerial connected. If you activate as internet connected you will get less of a Freeview offer.

Another bad point for Sky is the fact that you have to subscribe to the basic entertainment package before adding any extras which makes the (2 year!) contracts unnecessarily expensive. With EE you can add or remove apps at will - say, Netflix, Now TV, Apple etc according to taste, with 1 month contracts, an enormously flexible set up.

Other contributors on here are far more knowledgeable in this area, so if I haven't fully answered your question, post back here and someone else can pick up the reins. And there is yet another plus point for EE v Sky - the user forum is a far nicer and more supportive place than the somewhat aggressive Sky forums.

Welcome to our world!

As an EE 1.6 gbps broadband customer, I’m still waiting to be able to move from Sky TV and add EE TV to my broadband package. That’s not been possible from the start of my contract, which is about a year old now, due to different ordering systems apparently. It’s an absolute farce.

If you have a working aerial then you get all of the Freeview channels on your main box. If you don't, then a cut-down number of the Freeview channels are available, which is always the case on the mini. Among the channels you don't get if you don't use an aerial are the free U& channels [i.e. all bar Gold and Alibi]. You can get all of the Sky branded channels (Entertainment, Sport and Cinema) and the TNT Sport channels - with additional TNT channels that elsewhere are only available on interactive on the EEtv programme guide.
