Pause TV = can’t see bottom third of the screen

I am sure that a short while back (prior to a recent update) when you paused live TV the black bar that appears at the bottom of the screen would disappear after a few seconds. Now it appears to stay until you restart the program, which is no good if you pause the program to read something or look at something in the bottom half of the screen.

What happens if you press back? It should hide the screen controls.
