EE apple TV box remote issues

I have had my EE apple TV for a year now and the last couple of days the remote is running out of battery, but the batteries are not dead because if I change the batteries to another remote, they still work.

I have tried a couple of fixes suggested online to reset the remote but these do not work.

When I put in different batteries that work when I switch to another remote they last a day and then I have the same experience.

Is the EE supplied remote now becoming faulty?

Different devices have different voltage thresholds before they stop working. The lock on my front door complains of low battery every few weeks, but then those "used" batteries last in a remote control for months after.

My Apple TV remote is currently reporting that it's low on battery - sometimes it does it all evening, and other evenings it doesn't complain at all. I'll change them when it actually stops working.

Have you tried new batteries in the Apple TV remote? Does it still die, or complain of low battery?

Having similar issues. Got the Apple TV in December. 2 months ago, got a message to say batteries are at 20%. Thought that was a short life. Put new ones in and getting the 20% message again.

On your Apple TV, if you go to Settings then Remotes and Devices does it say that the battery is below 20% there?

@DarrenDev @Christopher_G I put in new fresh batteries this morning and the same thing has happened in just a couple of hours.

There are no other Bluetooth devices in the room so that is not the problem.

I think it is definitely the remote or perhaps the box itself. Can you please advise on the best way forward?

I've asked the wider team internally, and others have confirmed they're seeing the same issue.

We're investigating - I'll update when I know more.

Thanks Darren, I have a mini box I can use until it's investigated and I am advised if I need a replacement device or remote.

As per Christopher's question earlier - does the settings screen show that the battery is low too?

I also wouldn't avoid using the Apple TV unless absolutely necessary - if anything, I'd like to see if it continues working for long after the 20% warning starts?

I didn't notice a warning, the remote just stopped working so I couldn't view as it was on BBC one at the time and I had left the room.

I will check it intermittently and switch out the batteries, see what happens and advise.

@Weerab2024 I sent you a DM last week as we'd like to swap the remote control, so that our hardware team can test the one you have. The new remote should be delivered tomorrow, and the existing one collected separately (date to be confirmed).

@DarrenDev I just turned my EE apple TV box on after a day or so and the new remote control also stopped with the supplied batteries (only a week old).

I put in some old batteries and it's working now.

Do you think the issue could be with the box?
