BBC iPlayer HDR content shot showing colours correctly on EETV

So, I noticed that when watching 'The Gold' on BBC iPlayer in HDR 4K on EETV, that the colours looked horrible. All lemon and green.

I then switched to my Apple TV and watched the same programme in HDR 4K and it looked fine.

What is causing this?

Sounds like the HDMI port your TV box is connected to isn't set up for HDR. There may be a setting on your TV for it? Try plugging the TV box into the port that your Apple TV is currently on just to check.

Also check the display settings on the TV box to ensure you're running at the best your TV is capable of:

My Apple TV, EETV and other devices are all plugged into a receiver which then outputs via the same HDMI port to the TV.

All input ports on the receiver are the same in terms of spec.

My EETV is set up for HDR 10 bit. I tried switching to 8 bit, but that made no difference.

I'll try running the iPlayer on the TV itself and see what that looks like.

Ok, so I've solved the Apple TV issue. When I watched The Gold again, pressing info showed that it was HD. Further research showed that Apple TV iPlayer HDR content is not supported as it uses a different format to what the BBC uses.

So that at least explains that! Doesn't help with the main issue though.

@imacken Try re-seating the HDMI cable that connects the box to the ‘receiver’ (HDMI combiner presumably), maybe even reversing or replacing the cable if you have a spare, as this kind of ‘wrong’ colours can also be caused by not all pins connecting fully

Just a side note - it's a Yamaha RX-V483 receiver not a HDMI combiner.

So, it would seem that it is solved by switching on LG TV's Deep Colour mode.
