Basic questions about using an EE TV box:

Can I look at the channel guide and set up a recording for 2 concurrent sports events via the Internet ?

Most films and TV series are created with subtitles. Are these subtitles still available when recorded via the Internet ?

Virgin Media doesn't use satellite, it's a cable TV platform. TNT Sports is broadcast in the same way on Virgin as every other channel is - via cable, but also available to stream via their "TV Go" mobile app.

The channels are owned by WBD (Warner Brothers Discovery) who have licensed their use on various platforms including EETV. The platforms get their feed from WBD and include them within their EPGs on their box devices using the standard delivery method for their devices. So Satellite , cable, multicast , unicast depending of the TV service provider. WBD do offer the linear TNT Sports channels direct to consumers within their discovery + (Premium) App. That app is also available from several TV providers including EE TV.

Thank you for a very concise answer. I had to Google "linear" in that context. It's good to see the forest before looking at the trees. One of those 'trees' is skipping the adverts on recorded linear content from satellite. As I understand it, I can Fast Forward through them ? Whereas, with recorded internet content (AKA non-linear??), I cannot. Am I right? or am I right?

One of the reasons that commercial broadcasters prefer online viewing/streaming is that they have more control over the adverts - which can easily be skipped when you're recording a broadcast method.

Watching a channel live via a streaming method is (probably) technically linear, albeit a few seconds behind satellite, terrestrial & cable-based broadcasts. A common bugbear is with live sport broadcasts, where Freeview (terrestrial), Virgin Media (cable) & Sky/Freesat (satellite) are usually a few seconds ahead and thus streaming-viewers hear scores before they've seen them happen.

Fast-forwarding through adverts is a benefit of either recording content to a hard-drive, or (in the case of C4 & ITV) paying for a premium-subscription.

Whilst the answer to the question is yes, if you are paying to get them on an EE TV box you won't have access to the channels on the Sky EPG if that is the question, they are under a different subscription.

What you do have if you subscribe via EE [or indeed Sky but not Virgin] is access to Discovery+, an app which enables you to watch the live sport and catch up sport on Sky boxes as well as most other streaming boxes, including the EE TV boxes, plus your phone.

Personally I find the Discovery+ app very good for catch up - as an example they almost always have the football they have shown as live games in full in both HD and UHD if shown on their Ultimate channel, as well as highlights, if sometimes finding the content you need isn't the best.
