Hi,

currently out of contract with BT, and have BTTV but box only, no subscription (can record TV, etc). Now out of contract and looking at moving to EE (BT don't seem to want to let me renew). Currently have BTTV but 'box only' package (was a user since it started and subscriptions didn't exist).

In the order process it says I can keep my existing TV package or change to a new one, but won't let me progress without picking a new package. Don't want the extra channels or to port my neyflix account over.

Is this possible?

Hey @ixdes , thanks for coming to the forums!

You will have to change your package if you're on a really old one I'm afraid. There are benefits in upgrading your package, we will move you to the latest hardware giving you a better all-round experience with our service.

Have a look here at what we offer: https://ee.co.uk/broadband/choose-your-package

Some examples are below:

thought that maybe the case. Unfortunately we don't pay anything extra for TV but do make use of the recording facility and access to rent/purchase films through EETV, so having to pay an extra £20 a month to (hopefully) keep access to our previous purchases is a bit much. Staying where we are and paying the £3 increase at the end of the months seems a better deal. Also don't want to move my netflix account over (want to keep extra members).

Fair enough, maybe not for you just yet then. I can appreciate that you use our platform for your viewing needs without needing a subscription from us. 😊

The question that seems unanswered here is why if someone is on a legacy zero or low charge EETV package with BT Broadband if the corresponding package is not being offered by EE Broadband they are apparently being required to opt for a significant higher price current package rather than the option to migrate their Broadband with no EETV service.

Surely they could offer the basic IP or Freeview channels with the box for say £5 a month. EE are missing a trick here

I would hope all this nonsense with pushing people over to EE, when they don’t want to go and EE are manifestly unready for them, has now stopped with the departure of the instigator who was actually bidding fair to demote EE’s approval ratings even lower than those of BT, which is what started all this in the first place.
