I have just replaced my BT TV box for an EE Pro TV box. My old BT box was wired into the router and work fine. However I set up my EE TV box and wired it in and although it said I was wired I kept getting problems and it said I wasn't connect to the internet. However, I have disconnect the Ethernet cable and now it appears to run fine on wifi.

Another problem I have is my EE box is connected to HDMI 4 on my TV and I have other things in other HDMI sources, Playstation in HDMI 1, Firestick in 2. But when I switch on my EE box ,it invariably opens a source location other than HDMI 4 even though I have switch off the box whilst watching tv on HDMI 4. Is there a way of saying to the box go to HDMI 4 on switch on?

@SmellyMelly The HDMI issue might be a setting on your TV that you can choose. The EE tv box doesn’t know what HDMI port it’s plugged in to on your TV so haw can it say to open up HDMI port 4. It doesn’t know how many HDMI ports there are for a start.

What Ethernet cable did you use to connect the EE box to the EE router ? As that sounds like an iffy cable.

The EETV box doesn’t need to know which port it’s plugged into. It just sends a message to the TV, via CEC, up whichever port it’s plugged into, to say ‘switch on and open this port’, and the TV should know which port is triggering it.

But due to the vagaries of CEC, this doesn’t always happen.

Make sure CEC is turned on, on the TV, and try again.TV manufacturers use a variety of names for CEC, though, so maybe tell us the make and model of TV involved?
