We have been lured away from BT to join EE only to find out that EE have daily Roam Charges, BT did not.

Why are EE charging Roam charges when there is an agreement between EU and UK to not charge for Roaming, It's a con !

Hi @Kircheboda

Im afraid to inform you, that "agreement" ended when we left the European Union after Brexit.

There are certain EE plans available that include EU Roaming, but it is not a requirement any more for this be free of charge for any network. Any network that offers this free of charge is on a promotional basis and not because they are required to do so.

If you are on EE Mobile and EE Broadband you would be able to get an Unlimited Data SIM with EU Roaming included for £16pm on a 30-day rolling contract. Or you can pay the daily rate on your current plan as and when you travel abroad and only for the days in which you use your phone for a call, text or data.

@Kircheboda wrote:
That is just a lot of Bull….BT did not charge for Roaming and you cannot call that for a promotional
basis when they have not charged for it since Brexit happened.

Since there has not been a legal requirement to offer roaming within the EU at no additional cost, then any choice to do so is a commercial decision by an individual operator. Just like different operators have varying approaches to network quality within the UK.

I'm sorry if you don't like my answer, but I don't appreciate it being called "Bull..." when I've tried to be as helpful as I can as a fellow customer by spending my time and giving you all the info to help you make an informed choice.

Feel free to throw your toys out of the pram at EE, but not other customers on this forum for trying to help answer your query.

It quite literally was a promotional term "Roam Like Home" that BT continued to fund themselves after the Brexit change. Evidently other providers have started charging for it since and BT Mobile were in the process of migrating customers to EE so there was no raason to change it as they are no longer accepting new customers.

With O2 you might be able to use your phone abroad with no charges, but good luck using your data when you're in the UK...
