My question is: How can I send and receive verification codes while I am in China?

My situation: I’m currently back in China and still have an active EE Pay As You Go pack (£15 for 10GB). However, I do not have any roaming pass or roaming data activated. I’ve discovered that I’m unable to receive any messages, even though I still have £5 in credit.

I tried using the link EE sent me to purchase a roaming data add-on, but the page only shows my remaining credit, and I’m unable to add any services. Additionally, all messages I send to 150 fail to send.

Since I can’t receive any verification codes via my UK number, I’m also unable to make changes through the EE website.

Is there any way to resolve this issue?

You mention that you're not able to receive text messages. But then say that you've received a link that EE have sent you... how has that been sent? This sounds like the welcome text message you should receive... thus you can receive text messages?

Can you manually select an alternative Chinese network? And are the symptoms the same?
