Dear EE,

I love your roaming offerings. You offer me 5G in more places via more carriers than my previous supplier (ironically a provider who used to brag about 5G roaming).

So whilst I’m loving the coverage, I’m wondering when you’re going to be adding VoLTE (or 4G / 5G calling) to the mix. On more recent trips, I’m noticing that the said other carrier (who are my network on my work phone) are offering this functionality however EE are not.

As more and more networks close their 3G networks, it leaves me at the very best on 2G or even sometimes with no data connection at all and some very poor quality voice calls.

Hoping this is on the roadmap in the not too distant future.

Thanks for coming here.

As long as you have a compatible device and SIM you will be able to connect to 4G whilst roaming.

WiFi Calling is not currently supported whilst roaming.

Thanks for the reply.

As per my post, I’ve praised data roaming. I get 5G in more places so I’m very aware 4G is available. That wasn’t my question.

I also posted that I get poor quality voice calls due to 4G / 5G calling not being available when roaming.

So as other networks introduce this feature as it’s needed due to the closure of 3G networks around the world, I was wondering how far down the road the introduction of 4G calling when roaming is.

I’d not asked about WiFi calling. It wouldn’t help when out and about anyway.

My apologies, I read the post incorrectly.

4G Calling is not yet available for customers abroad and I do not have any dates to share at this moment in time.

Once we have more information regarding 4G Calling abroad it will be updated on this page.

Hoping EE are going to get 4G / 5G calling whilst roaming working.

Can use the phone in more places now with these new roaming offers, really want to be able to make calls without the calls dropping back to 2G.

Resurrecting this chain as I traveled to Spain and Gibraltar last weekend and yet again, EE still don’t offer VoLTE.

From a real customer experience, it means your incoming / outgoing calls all result in you losing your 5G connection with the phone jumping back to 3G (in countries that still have 3G, it not - you’re back on 2G).

What I found this weekend in Spain was that it meant I couldn’t make calls. The quality was too poor. Luckily, knowing what was sitting behind this, I was able to switch to FaceTime audio to make the call over Movistar’s lightening fast 5G.

So data roaming, you’re one of the best.

My fellow travellers with Three and Vodafone all had VoLTE when roaming meaning their calls were crystal clear, right like making one here in the UK.

So whoever your product team is, can you please give them yet another nudge!

I absolutely agree I'm in France same it jumps luckily to 3g for a voice call but when in Germany the other month 2g was terrible. While my friends three mobile 5g crystal clear. We do need this implementing soon maybe before 2g is also switched off 😃

So good news, there’s a post now that suggests that VoLTE roaming is now available in certain countries.

EE have removed the reference to ‘4G calling is not available when abroad’ from the page and now just don’t mention it.

Any official confirmation from EE that it’s now available.

Well just to add, I’ve finally benefited from 4G calling when roaming in France, Spain and Luxembourg.

Looks like it’s quietly being rolled out in more places!

Could you please specify the mobile operators which offer 4G calling, especially in Luxembourg?

EE is not offering a full list with operators with VOLTE support, so we have to build our own 😉

POST Luxembourg and EE seem to not have activated 4G calling, which is very annoying 😞

Thank you very much. Could you also specify the other operators for which VoLTE worked?

Unfortunately, Post Luxembourg and EE don’t seem to have the agreement yet.

It would be nice if they did—Orange doesn’t even have half as good coverage as Post.

Is it possible to have a full list of partner networks, including details such as 5G and VoLTE (4G calling) support?

That would be great 🙂 Also, is there any possibility that EE and Post Luxembourg might work together to offer VoLTE roaming? I’m often there and would really appreciate being able to use that feature in the near future 😉

Welcome to the community.

Roaming partners change all of the time, so we don't post a list (not even here in the community). Your phone should connect to the strongest possible network when you arrive. You can manually select a network too. If we have a roaming agreement, and that network supports VoLTE, it will show you on the device.
