Hi,

I. In Egypt and not able to buy the additional data pass through the link I received when I landed.

Tried phoning but the IVR system is not recognising my keystroke for 1 to go to mobile and speak with and agent.

Any help appreciated, as I'm not able to use my phone unless connected to WiFi, and don't want to pay the usual roaming charge if not able to use it.

If you've received the welcome text message then you're roaming by virtue of a local network connection. Charges are only incurred when you make or receive a call, send a text message or purchase an add-on to use mobile data.

What do you mean by "not able to use my phone unless connected to WiFi"? Data is prevented without the use of an add-on, but calls & texts should still work.

What happens when you try to click through from the link?

Yes using phone, text would be fine, although costing a lot more than if I could buy a pass. Also, certainly don't want to rack up a huge bill using data to connect to the internet when not connected to a WiFi router.

Can't get through to speak with anyone.

If anyone knows of a direct line number to speak with someone, without having to "press" 1 or 2, it would be great, so long as I'm connected to WiFi and WiFi calling.

If you have access to your EE App, navigate to the Profile in the top right and then Settings and ensure "Buy more data" is switched on.

If you still have no luck on this, you could try the Message Us option under the Help tab in the app.

Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

If there was a method to easily bypass EE-CS-IVR, it would become quite popular quite quickly, and would very likely be rapidly shut down.

WiFi-calling is not supported abroad, but in the occasional case where it works, calls will still be charged at the standard roaming rate. The service is meant to be a coverage-extender in the UK, not a means to avoid call charges.
