We're doing an Alaska Cruise, starting with 2 days in Seattle, then a day at sea, then numerous stops in Alaska for 5 days, another day at sea and 1 day in Canada.

Do I have to buy 2 days of Zone 1 then a Zone 4 for the sea day, then another Zone 1 pass for 5 days then another Zone 4 and a 1 day Zone 1.
OR
Can I just buy a 7 day Zone 1 and add the Zone 4 when at sea i.e. will the Zone 1 then automatically take over then I get to port on the 4th day etc?

Zone 4 Pass will only give you 10MB of data, and you won't be able to use your current UK call and text allowance. Therefore, I would not recommend you get any Zone 4 Passes.

Just pay for the Wi-Fi package if Internet access is important to you whilst you are onboard.

On the port side, you can use https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/maritimeshipsferriesandcruises to find out your roaming options.
