Thanks for coming here.

If someone leaves a voicemail message this would be charged, you can turn voicemail off before travelling by texting VM OFF to 150 and when you return please text VM ON to 150 to set this back up.

Please see our Roaming Costs for Turkey Help page for details on costs and add-ons.

If you have a pay monthly account, text ROAMING to 150 before travelling to make sure the account is set up for using your phone abroad, in case you do need to use this 🙂

You are only charged for making & receiving calls, sending text messages & using mobile data - roaming just means using your phone on a foreign network.

Retrieving a voicemail would be an outgoing call.

Hi. The best solution for Turkey is to buy an esim that can be loaded onto your phone in addition to your normal sim. This summer I paid $47 for an esim with unlimited data for 15 days. Voice calls and texts use the normal sim and are charged to your EE account but data transfers use the esim account. This assumes your phone is esim capable - but most modern phones are I think.

If by "best solution" you mean the most cost-effective for outbound calls and mobile data, then you are correct.

Your solution requires a dual-SIM device which is also unlocked to other networks. Whether one SIM is "E" is separate.

Phones with 2 physical sim slots are not common. In the case in point, even if a second physical sim is possible you still need to get your hands on it. An esim is pretty much instantly available. It can be installed while still in the UK and activated as soon as you get to Turkey.
