13 Year old on School Trip - How to pay for Roaming ?

Hello

My 13 year old has an essentials plan on his sim (i have 4 on the same package for the family) i find the roaming situation quite confusing, but i think i have worked out that you can only enable a roaming plan once you are in the EU, our son is going to Austria (by bus) so presumably when he hits france he will receive a text regards roaming?

How would he pay for the 7 day pass himself?

I was hoping to pay for the pass for him in advance...

Any help appreciated

He'll be invited to buy the EU 7-day pass when he arrives in EU. It will be added to his (yours?) bill.

Ah OK so he just has to say yes please, so to speak?, so i dont need to increase the spend cap or anything ready?

If you have a spend cap on that number you will need to increase it to allow your son to be able to purchase the add on.

I would also text ROAM to 150 from your sons phone to ensure the roaming is enabled before he goes too.

Regardless of what billing option you/your son chooses, his phone needs to have the ability to use foreign networks, and thus avoid a no-coverage scenario. This is free, and is normally done by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK.

The spend cap needs to be sufficiently high to cover any & all charges that may naturally be incurred. If your son will be using the EU-7day pass, then the cap should be at least £20 - to enable some headroom.

Charges will be added to the monthly bill exactly as any other charges would be.
