I topped up in August. I got a text today with a notification about needing to do a chargeable action. However I can't make a chargeable call or text as it won't let me. Today I toped up again, bought a pack from my credit for texts today and it still won't let me text? It also won't let me even call or text EE, yet I can get messages from them.

I am in Canada and want to text home (the UK). I am able to receive texts but I am not able to send, call out or receive calls. I have Credit in my account, 20, enough to cover the services. Roaming is switched on, wifi calls off. Any reason it's not working?

Had you used that PAYG SIM for making calls or texts in UK before going abroad? To be used abroad EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.

When did you previously make a chargeable action? EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use. You then have a further 3 months period of grace to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

You needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.

I believe my 1st answer to you applies, namely you never used that SIM as PAYG in UK.

From what you have told us I think your timeline went as follows:

May: You cancelled the contract with 30 days notice & requested it be moved to PAYG.

May later: You left UK. You were still on contract.

June: Notice expired, contract cancelled & SIM was moved to PAYG,. You paid final bill.

But you were now abroad. Now you were not in a position to make calls/texts in UK. Therefore as a PAYG SIM it wasn't enabled for roaming abroad.
