Switching off your mobile data will prevent your phone from using mobile data.

Voice calls do not use mobile data, thus will be unaffected by disabling mobile data. Any text messages you send whilst roaming will be chargeable.

Hi I am going to Turkey on Friday and have purchased the 30 mins calls from anywhere so I can contact my elderly mother. Following your thread I was planning to turn mobile data off when there so I don’t get charged for data. Does this mean I can’t make any calls?

Voice calls don't use data.

With mobile data and/or data roaming disabled on your phone, you will still be able to connect to foreign networks. Voice calls & text messages will still work.

Outside the EU, mobile data will only work with an add-on being purchased anyway - so you can safely leave it enabled providing you only use Turkish networks and not any EU-based network.

HiThank you for your reply. That’s good news. So just to clarify: I have bought the 30 minutes phone calls from anywhere pass and will be in Turkey. If I switch off my mobile data I will be able to use this add on to call or receive calls for up to 30 minutes without any extra cost except the cost of the add on.

Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone
