Roam abroad pass - in USA

Hi I'm currently on holiday in the USA & I have the roam abroad pass added to my phone as an add on for this month.
I'm having problems making phone calls to the UK using my iPhone XS. I have tried all ways - using dial assist, the usual access codes from US to UK etc. when I ring all I get is silence/ no ring/ no automated message - nothing. I have roaming toggled and data toggled on in the iPhone settings. I have turned off and on and airplane mode off and on. Tried all the tips I can find on google and this forum - nothing seems to work.

Strangely, I'm able to ring USA telephone numbers and mobiles without a problem!

I can send and receive SMS messages and use internet data without wi-fi

Your symptoms are consistent with one of two issues.

1: Most likely, you have an international call bar active which might need CS intervention to remove - you can check your phone's call barring menus for this option first.

2: You shouldn't need it with a billing add-on, but check for a little headroom with a spend cap - https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/manage-use/pay-monthly/set-up-and-manage-spend-cap

Thank you for your response.

I have a £20 spending cap so this shouldn't be posing the problem.

Please can you tell me where the

phone's call barring menus are located as I haven't come across them before.

Did you receive a welcome text when arriving in the United States?

If you have not activated roaming before leaving the UK by texting ROAMING to 150 you would need to contact our customer care team who can activate this for you.

The OP confirmed "Strangely, I'm able to ring USA telephone numbers and mobiles without a problem! I can send and receive SMS messages and use internet data without wi-fi" - roaming seems to be active.

Settings often differ between Apple & Android - which do you have?

Hi yes I received the welcome text saying welcome to USA & mentioning the roam abroad pass.

I added my pass by phoning CS so I assume they also check for roaming too?

Sorry when you say what settings do you have. Not sure what settings you are referring to. Or do you mean what type of phone?
