PAYG - Sending SMS texts from Dubai UAE

Hi,

I hope someone can clarify.

I'm an EE PAYG customer and pay £9/month by direct debit.
Once my payment goes through, I get a confirmation text from EE saying my balance is now £0 and I have x amount of calls and data for the next 30 days.
We're going to Dubai and I'll be using my debit card for spending. The first time I use my card, the bank will send me an SMS text message and I must reply with a "YES". I believe the reply I send back will be charged at about 60p but as my "balance" is technically £0, I was advised to add a manual top-up of say £5, so when I reply to the banks text message, the charge will come of the £5 credit - I'm really worried - is this advice correct? Has anyone been through this before? - Thank you.

As any text you send while roaming will be chargeable you will need your PAYG credit balance to cover it. So, yes, you would need to top-up your balance (min £5) before you may send a text from there.
