Help! I have a sim-only deal on my phone, I pay £10 a month but there is no contract or direct debit. It just activates when I top my phone up. Can any one tell me if I’m eligible for the roam like home package and if I’ll get the text when I arrive in Italy. I don’t know if what I have is a subscription pack or not?

You can buy a pack which lets you use your UK allowance in EU-
There are 2 packs available- £2.50 which lasts a day, or £10 which lasts up to 7 days.

You can only buy these bundles once you have arrived at your destination. You'll receive a text message offering how to buy them. You will only be offered these packs if you have a valid subscription in place. The £10/m pack you have sounds like you have a subscription.

It's only possible to purchase via text once abroad

You'd Text ROAMEU1D to 150 for 1 day access (£2.50)

text ROAMEU7D to 150 for 7 days access (£10)

However that will only work as long as you have the valid subscription in place.

To use your pack allowances in the EU on PAYG there are roaming charges of either £2.50 / day, by having texted ROAMEU1D to 150, or £10 / week, by having texted ROAMEU7D to 150, to be taken only from your PAYG credit, not your recurring card payment. You will receive a msg upon arrival telling you about these charges for roaming in EU & inviting to take up these options. If you opt to reply neither or you don't have an active pack, you will be paying standard rates for calls & texts & will need to buy a PAYG add-on for data.
