The lack of an e-SIM for the PAYG service is a BIG handicap for EE.

Don't forget tourists will make a lot of noise and fuss which will cause many people to consider using other carriers.

EE need their marketing department to seriously address the PAYG service since many tourists and businesses are now setting up their communication devices BEFORE travel to avoid loss of critical service while traveling ...

An eSIM is still a SIM, it's just not physical.

It's the nature of roaming, that permissions need to be enabled before travelling abroad. This is standard advice, and applies equally to both physical and electronic SIM.

@simoRAV please name more than one that’s sold within the UK that only has support for eSIM.

I often find eSIMs can't be set up when abroad so it's not just EE. The one I use when in the US requires me to be in the US and have wifi connectivity to add it.
